Bonnie Lewis, is a Canadian painter. Her work investigates the realities and fantasies of growing up female in the modern world. Her work explores an eclectic range of cultural sources such as fairy tales, bible stories, myths and childhood games. Each of these areas contributes its own iconographic language and symbolic system that run through her projects.

She has exhibited her work across Canada and the U.S., past shows include “Daughter Tales”, Edward Day Gallery, Toronto, “Growing Up Girl”, Robert Langlin Gallery, Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo, “Retelling Anne” McDonald Stewart Art Centre, Guelph, Hamilton Artists Inc, Hamilton, James Baird Gallery, St. Johns, NL and the AAF Arts Fair, NYC, New York


Her work has appeared in several publications including the catalogues, “Growing up girl”, “Retelling Anne”, Toronto Life, Now Magazine. She has received awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council. The artist’s work is in private collections in Canada, USA and the U.K.

She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and was awarded the W. O. Forsyth scholarship.
